How to Play Athle

The original game, and the home page. Each day one athlete is hidden behind a blurred photo, and your job is to name them in as few turns as possible. There's one puzzle per sport per day, the same for everyone.

Start typing an athlete's name and pick from the list. Every guess is instantly graded against the hidden player and reveals colour-coded clues:

• Green, an exact match.
• Orange, close (e.g. same continent or position group).
• Grey, no match.
• Arrows, for numbers like age or draft year, an up or down arrow shows whether the real value is higher or lower.

Each correct clue also sharpens the blurred photo a little more. Stuck? Spend a hint to reveal an attribute, uncover a career step, or clear more of the image. Hints count toward your turn limit, so use them when you're truly stuck.

The Daily Grid is a 3x3 board where every row and column is a category, such as a league or a nationality. For each of the nine cells, name a player who satisfies both the row and the column at once.

You can make three mistakes before the grid ends. Tapping a cell shows how many valid players exist for it, and score is based on rarity: the less popular the valid player you pick, the more points you earn, up to 900 across the board. Full walkthrough on the grid page.

The Daily Bingo turns the guessing around. Instead of naming a hidden player, you are shown one athlete at a time and a board of 16 tiles, each a category. Tap the tile the shown player fits to claim it.

Each tile can only be filled once, and if nobody on the board matches the shown player you simply skip them. Fill all 16 tiles for a full house before the run of players ends. There is also a random practice board and a two-minute Timer mode. Full walkthrough on the bingo page.

The Daily Quiz is ten trivia questions a day, mixing multiple choice, short typed answers and quick numeric answers. Each question runs against its own clock, and answering faster earns a bigger speed bonus on top of whatever the question is worth.

A daily eases you in rather than testing you from the first question: most of the ten skew easy or medium, with only a couple of genuinely hard ones near the end, and a harder question is worth more points outright, not just a bigger speed bonus for being fast on it. Every mode runs in football, tennis and basketball, with a fresh daily puzzle per sport that is the same for everyone. Finished for the day? Guess and Quiz both have a Practice option for endless random rounds, and Grid and Bingo let you generate a new random board any time.

Winning is not only for the streak. In football, basketball and tennis, finishing the daily Guess, Grid, Bingo and Quiz earns packs of collectible player cards (football also adds all-time Legends and Coaches) that you open and build into a lineup lifted by chemistry.
