How to Play Athle

Athle is free, and there is no email or password anywhere in it. Open a game and play. An account is optional and takes one tap: pick a name, then save the recovery code you are shown once. That pair carries your Cabinet, streaks, stats and boards to any other device. Without one everything still saves, but only in this browser. Groups is the one part that needs a name, because a leaderboard is a list of people.

It works like a password, except Athle generates it and shows it once. Twelve characters, in three blocks like XXXX-XXXX-XXXX. Only a scrambled one-way copy is stored, so nobody can show it to you again or reset it. Save it when it appears. If you are still logged in somewhere, the menu on that device can issue a fresh one and retire the old. Logging out wipes the device, so log back in with your name and code to bring everything back. If you have logged out everywhere without saving the code, that account cannot be reached by anyone, and a new one is the fastest fix.

Yes. Log in on both and each syncs as you play. Anything that only goes up is merged rather than overwritten, so cards, streaks and best scores from either device survive. Unopened packs are the exception. They are counted per device, so open them where you earn them.

Ten turns. Each guess and each hint costs one, so spend them carefully.

Green is an exact match with today's hidden player. Orange is close, such as the same continent or position group. Grey is no match. Numbers add an arrow showing whether the real value is higher or lower.

Your score is the number of hops, and fewer is better. The board shows the par to beat. Any valid chain wins the moment it connects, however long it runs. Wrong picks are rejected with no penalty and no limit on attempts. Giving up reveals a path that works, but does not count as a win.

One point per correct name. The targets are the eleven players plus the coach in football, and five plus the coach in basketball. Partial credit counts, so 9 of 12 is a good result and worth sharing. Wrong guesses cost nothing, and each name that lands drops that player's photo into their real position.

No. Accents, capitals and punctuation are ignored, and common alternative names are accepted. If you think an answer should have counted, use the report button on the answer screen.

Yes. Each countdown runs on real time rather than a ticking counter, so switching away or locking your phone buys you nothing.

Finish a game's daily on consecutive days and its streak climbs. Winning is not required, so a bad day costs nothing as long as you played it through. Giving up does not count, and missing a day resets that streak to zero. Each game keeps a separate streak in each sport. Every seventh day earns a Streak pack: one guaranteed card, a Legend in football and an Icon in tennis and basketball. It repeats at day 14, day 21 and on. Tap the flame in the toolbar to see where you are.

Yes, through Groups. Open any game, tap the menu in the top bar, choose Groups, then create one or join with its six-character code. A group holds up to 20 people and ranks everyone on the dailies they have finished, across all six games. Filter by today, this week, this month, all time, or any single past day. Tapping a member shows the squad in their Cabinet. To invite someone, use Share inside the group: it sends a link that opens Athle on the join step with the code already filled in.

Yes. The globe button on the Groups screen opens Today's world: the top 100 across everyone who finished that day's puzzle, for whichever game you pick. It covers today only, and it is separate from your own groups, which stay private to their members.
